What to know about the procedure
Most procedures are done on an outpatient basis and utilize fluoroscopic (X-ray) guidance. Patients are offered a variety of sedation options based upon anxiety level, patient health status, ability to tolerate positioning on the procedure table, and the need to prevent patient movement during the procedure. The types of sedation include:
